Los Angeles Trade and Technical College – Stormwater Runoff Pumping
Project Description
The expansion of a college campus required this stormwater pump station to handle medium flows of stormwater runoff. To meet the required pumping rate, 7.5 hp Ebara submersible centrifugal pumps were designed in a duplex configuration. This pumping system was designed with dual force mains and check valves integrated in the discharge piping to simplify the engineering for the system. Romtec Utilities provided the complete electrical engineering plans for the UL listed control panel. Floats for primary and backup liquid level-sensing were supplied to give the system added redundancy.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
The Los Angeles Trade and Technical College and Armstrong & Brooks Consulting Engineers (Civil E.) chose Romtec Utilities to design and supply a packaged stormwater pump station for an expansion of the college’s campus. This pump station was designed with cost effective engineering practices to meet the needs of the college for an affordable price. Romtec Utilities worked with Suffolk Construction (GC) to integrate this pump station into the overall construction plan for the new library building. Western 7 was awarded the installation of the project, and Romtec Utilities provided an onsite construction advisor to assist the contractor. Start-up services and training were also provided for maintenance personnel of the college.
