Mitsubishi Manufacturing – Identical Stormwater Pump Stations
Project Description
A Mitsubishi manufacturing plant in Sacramento, California needed two new matching pump stations to handle low-flows of stormwater from an on-site treatment system. These systems were designed as simplex pump station with one, 5 hp Ebara pump in each station. Precast concrete wet wells included H-20 occasional traffic-rated hatches with built-in fall protection for safe operation. Nolta floats are used to provide in-well level-sensing for pump start and stop controls. A NEMA 4 painted steel enclosure houses the system electrical controls and is wired for intrinsically safe operation. The telemetry for these stations comprises local flashing lights with enunciating alarms and access ports for plugging in auxiliary components.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Romtec Utilities was contacted for a pair of new stormwater pump stations needed for an expansion of the Mitsubishi Chemical Carbon Fiber & Composites (MCCFC) plant in Sacramento, California. We worked the Mitsubishi’s engineering team and their civil engineer, KPFF, to design the pump stations to meet the site-specific pumping requirements. Once out for private bid, Weber Engineering, the contractor, teamed up with Romtec Utilities to win the project by providing the best valued quotation to meet the project requirements. After the pump stations were installed, Romtec Utilities’ onsite technician provided start-up, testing, and training for the owners over the course of two days, while commissioning the pump station for warranty.
