Portland, Oregon University Replacement Wastewater Lift Station
For this university replacement lift station, we worked with the University of Portland to deliver a new system that meets the needs of a campus expansion. With the campus growing, the university replacement wastewater lift station provides a new system that will service new buildings as part of the athletic and academic buildings that were constructed near the Willamette River.
We worked with a variety of partners on this project and helped provide guidance to bring this new wastewater lift station to life for the University of Portland campus expansion. We designed, manufactured, and supplied this wastewater lift station to meet the growing needs of the campus with a variety of new buildings going up.
Portland, Oregon is the largest city in the state, with the Willamette River running through. The Columbia River flows on the northern side of Portland, marking the border with Vancouver, Washington.
The University of Portland is located just north of downtown Portland sitting next to the Willamette River. The private college was founded in 1901 and resides in the University Park neighborhood.
Replacement Sewer Lift Station
The University of Portland began an expansion project that included the development of 35 acres adjacent to the west of the main campus. The property is known as the Franz River Campus and includes several new buildings. The college has been known for a rich athletic history while continuing to establish their brand in an array of other sports.
The new facilities at the University of Portland included a boathouse that houses the equipment for the crew team by the Willamette River. It also includes a combination of storage for their skoals, locker rooms, showers, a portion of the environmental lab, and an outdoor patio for weddings and events.
A new physical plant building is 58,000 square feet with showers, locker rooms, paint booth, woodshop, and storage.
The expansion included a tennis center with a six-court complex along with a new Track & Field Complex. Nearby are the North Greenway Trail and other existing athletic fields.
Romtec Utilities worked on the replacement of an existing wastewater lift station that the University of Portland needed for the four separate new facilities which will feed into this new lift station.

Romtec Utilities was proud to provide the design and supply of this lift station for the University of Portland expansion project that will provide more academic and athletic opportunities for students.
University Wastewater Lift Station Considerations
What to consider when a replacement wastewater lift station is needed for college or universities:
-what is the current setup of your system?
-how will a new system replace the old and meet future flow needs?
-do you need a high level of controls and alarms to monitor the system for any issues that arise? We specialize in the design of the systems and utilizing controls that meet the highest level of monitoring needs.
-what is the pumping environment? Is it typically difficult or normal flows?
-how do you plan for current and future flows with the design of the system?
At Romtec Utilities we can help you design a system that will meet all your wastewater pumping needs, while also planning for future demand. We can design it with controls that meet your monitoring and alarm preferences to be able to respond quickly.
We can work alongside the owner, developers, engineers, general contractors, architects, and civil contractors to bring a new wastewater system to life for your college or university project. We have replaced many wastewater lift stations over the years and understand the different pumping environments and requirements for each one.
Upon installation of the system, Romtec Utilities sends a site technician to the site to help ensure the system is installed according to the design. They also commission the system and provide training on the operations and controls (alarms) of the system for maintenance staff.
As the single source provider of the complete pump system we provide a robust warranty. Since we supply the whole system, we handle all the warranty processes.
To meet your specific university replacement wastewater lift station needs, we will meet with you to talk about the project at no upfront cost. We can design a system that meets your unique site, projects needs, and pumping requirements.
