Ridgefield, WA – Wastewater Pumping System
This residential wastewater pumping system was designed to meet the needs of the Ridgefield Heights residential development. We worked with Gramor Development, along with SGA Engineering, and Clark Regional Wastewater District to design a residential wastewater pumping system that fit the project and residential development pumping needs. Clark Regional Wastewater District (CRWD) is one of the largest sewer districts in the state of Washington. They provide wastewater services to over 109,000, and has operated since 1958. In the last 20 years the CRWD customer base has almost doubled.
This housing development in Ridgefield services the growing population as Ridgefield was the fastest growing city in Washington after the 2020 census. This housing development supports the local economy and the growing demand for housing in the area. Romtec Utilities is an expert at designing residential wastewater pump stations in the Vancouver, Washington and Portland, Oregon metro areas.
The Ridgefield Heights Subdivision is a new housing development in Ridgefield, Washington, about 15 miles north of Vancouver, WA. The development has a playground, basketball courts, paved sidewalks, and open natural and wooded areas.
Ridgefield was the fastest-growing city in the state of Washington after the 2020 census as it grew by almost 6,000 people in the last decade to 10,319. Ridgefield is 14 miles north along Interstate 5, from Vancouver, Washington, and Portland, Oregon just south of that.
Ridgefield is also home to U-Haul which was founded there in 1945. The city is home to many parks, trails, and viewpoints.
This growing city needed housing and supplementally wastewater services as soon as possible to support the population.
Wastewater Pump Station
This wastewater pump station project is for a new development in Ridgefield, Washington by Gramor Development. The Ridgefield Heights Subdivision provides single-family homes along with a playground, sidewalks, and a basketball court for the neighborhood. Gramor Development is a real estate development company in the Portland and Vancouver areas.
This project was brought to us by SGA Engineering. SGA Engineering is a civil engineer who provides land planning, landscape architecture, and development services. Clark Regional Wastewater District is the end owner of this pump station with strict requirements for their pump stations joining their entire system. In order to be flexible and keep the project running which would allow Gramor to move residents in sooner, Clark Regional Wastewater District signed off on using an “interim” standard lift station which would not need to be designed to meet the full municipal requirement.
Residential Wastewater Pump Station
Housing developments can vary greatly by size, scope, and scale but at Romtec Utilities we can design a wastewater pump station to fit your project’s needs. Some main aspects to consider when designing a system for a residential housing development:
-What are the control preferences of the owner? We can design the pump station to include all the owner preferences when it comes to controls and alarms on the system.
-What is the pumping environment? Will there be a lot of debris or objects that the system has to deal with in the sewage?
-How large will the system need to be for now and future flows? We specialize in designing systems to meet the current needs but also future flow needs, which is helpful to design for upfront. This can save the project money in the long term to avoid replacement systems, or modifications. This is why planning in the design phase is critical and where we can assist customers in the best fit for their project.
We worked with SGA Engineering on the Mt. Solo and Barnett-Curtin Creek Pump Station projects previously. We worked with Clark Regional Wastewater District before on a variety of projects including Jessie Hollow, Glenwood and Laurin Pump Station, Barnett-Curtin Creek Pump Station, Hawk’s Landing, and Kennedy Farms.
Romtec Utilities worked with SGA Engineering for submittals & engineering. SGA is a full-service engineering and planning consulting firm. Prairie Electric did the electrical site work and was experienced in installing Romtec Utilities systems without needing expanded electrical designs.
The civil installing contractor was Nutter Corporation who is a heavy civil contractor based out of Vancouver, WA who has worked with Romtec Utilities’ installs before.
Housing Wastewater Pump Station
At Romtec Utilities, we design and supply pump stations all over the country for housing developments that need a residential wastewater pumping system for expanded housing. We also provide pump stations for a variety of development types along with a variety of water types.
This wastewater pump station utilized a precast 6′ ID x ~13.6′ deep wet well, with a precast 612 Valve Vault 4″ Piping, and duplex 4hp Flygt submersible pumps. A Micrologix 1400 was the primary controller for the pump station and a Siemens pressure transducer was used for primary level sensing. The system can pump up to 58 gallons per minute with a @ 60.9′ TDH. The controls are housed in a NEMA 4 painted steel enclosure.
Aside from the wastewater pump station design, we provided an onsite technician who went to the site upon installation to ensure it was installed according to the design. They also provided commissioning of the system, along with training on the operations and controls for the maintenance team at CRWD. Romtec Utilities handles the entire warranty process for our customers, as the single source entity of the entire system as we source all components. We cover the entire warranty, assuring your system is covered and you have peace of mind.
On top of those benefits, we handle a high level of manufacturing of our systems to ensure the highest level of quality control for every system. This prefabrication and manufacturing cuts down on installation time, costs, and equipment needed. Saving our customers money and time.
