Victorville, California Septic to Sewer Conversion Wastewater Lift Station
This was a unique project in Victorville, California for a septic to sewer conversion wastewater lift station.
Due to environmental concerns with septic systems near the Mojave River, the City of Victorville needed to come up with a solution. The limited number of homes being converted over from septic to the sewer system resulted in very low flows and was a challenge with this project. However, due to existing relationships with the City of Victorville after working on previous projects, we were able to provide the standardization we have provided previously for their pump systems.
Romtec Utilities designs, manufactures, and supplies wastewater lift stations for cities and developments all over the country. However, this project was unique because it involved a septic to sewer conversion for a wastewater lift station. Romtec worked to deliver a station that supported this septic to sewer conversion wastewater lift station while meeting the low flow requirements of this system.
City of Victorville, California
Victorville, California is located within San Bernadino County and is 40 miles north of the city of San Bernadino.
Victorville had a population of 134,810 as of the 2020 census. The urban area of which Victorville is the principal city had a population of 355,816 at the 2020 census. Interstate 15, U.S. Route 395, and State Route 18 all go through Victorville.
Attractions in Victorville include Apple Valley Speedway, Mojave Narrows Regional Park, and California Route 66 Museum.
Sewer Conversion Wastewater Pump Station
The City of Victorville reached out to Romtec Utilities directly for assistance with the septic to sewer conversion project. They had grant funding available for this project and were trying to get it completed as soon as possible. The grant funding was in place because of environmental concerns due to septic systems in close proximity to the Mojave River.
Due to Romtec Utilities’ history with the city, they were eager to engage with us on this project because they are very comfortable with our process, our commitment to quality, and the level of standardization we can provide for their systems.
We have previously worked with the City of Victorville on the Victorville Wellness Center Project and the 10th Street Lift Station.
The challenge with this project was the very low flows. In the initial buildout, this lift station will only serve three single family homes. There may be an additional five single-family homes added to the system with future development, but the city is not sure if or when this will occur.
Kerns, Inc. installed the septic to sewer conversion wastewater lift station on behalf of the City of Victorville. Kerns Inc. is a full-service general engineering contractor specializing in underground utilities, including water, sewer, storm drain, fire water and gas based in Hesperia, California.

Our experience working on unique wastewater pumping scenarios across the country means we are able to provide a wastewater lift stations that can adapt to any scenario. For this project, we were able to design a pump station that could handle the low flows that followed the septic to sewer conversion near the Mojave River.
We were proud to partner with the City of Victorville and follow their standardized design for this pump station. We were also proud to provide a system with Keen submersible pumps in a duplex configuration with a PC3000XC primary controller. The system utilizes a SCADA Pumpwatch cellular autodialer and a pressure transducer for primary level sensing.
Designing A Septic System Converted to Wastewater Lift Station
At Romtec Utilities we design, manufacture, and supply wastewater pump stations that meet the needs and pumping environment of each project we work on. Our production team puts together the system as much as possible before shipping it to the site, while also going through quality control which cuts down on installation time.
Going through a septic system to sewer conversion with a wastewater lift station is something we have done before, and we know how to deliver a pump system that can meet low flow requirements.
We provide a construction advisor who helps ensure the system is installed per the design. They also commission the lift station and provide training for the maintenance team to ensure they know how to operate the system and understand the controls and alarms.
If you want to get started on your lift station, contact us today where we can meet to find a solution for your projects’ pumping needs. Even if that involves a septic sewer conversion wastewater lift station.
