California State University Channel Islands – Stormwater Pump Station
Project Description
A university needed this package stormwater pump station designed to meet the high flow requirements for draining a detention pond. A flooded inlet line from the detention pond is pumped by submersible centrifugal pumps in a duplex configuration. The valves were designed in the wet well discharge piping and connect to parallel force mains. An outdoor UL listed control panel with float controls was located on a berm (or levee) for easy road access. The controller contains an intrinsically safe barrier for safe electrical controls and a NEMA rated enclosure.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Romtec Utilities designed and supplied a custom stormwater lift station package to this university. A complete written specification was provided with the engineering firm, AECOM, to make sure that the University would get the exact custom lift station it needed. With this approach, Romtec Utilities was specified as the lift station provider once AECOM and the University approved the designs. The custom designs provided a system that can pump a detention pond from a high level to empty into a much larger retention pond. This capability provided the University with more area of usable land for its purposes. Romtec Utilities was able to solve a problem with a reliable and economical solution.
