Broadway Business Park – Stormwater Pump Station
Stormwater Pump Station Project Description
Business in the northwest is booming, spreading economic growth out of the big cities and into the surrounding suburbs. The Broadway Business Park features 9.84 acres of land for two large business complex buildings. For the Broadway Business Park Project, or Maltby Industrial Park Project, Romtec Utilities supplied a stormwater pump station for a new development by Ninety/Fifty LLC, who will privately own and maintain the lift station.
There are two structures approved to be built at this area: Building A with business spaces/storefronts and corresponding delivery bays with rolling doors in the rear of the building, and building B with larger spaces and a large recessed delivery bay with multiple rolling doors. All utilities have been installed on site and are ready for construction.
Cecil and Associates, the Site Engineer, was hired by Ninety/Fifty LLC to engineer the industrial development. Cecil and Associates was familiar with Romtec Utilities from our work together on the Providence Ridge project in Issaquah, Washington, and thus, brought us into this project for the design and supply of the lift station.
Stormwater Pump Station Design
The Romtec Utilities supplied stormwater lift station is composed of a precast 4’ inner diameter (ID) wet well that is 20.25’ in depth. This duplex system has two Ebara pumps that alternate pumping cycles to meet the duty point while reducing the wear on the pumps.
An alternator relay controls the pumping cycles in this system, receiving both start and stop signals from 4 NOLTA floats at predetermined depths in the wet well. To go with the precast well, Romtec Utilities also supplied a precast valve vault with a unique open floor design. Valve vaults can be essential for maintenance of a lift station as they make it easier and safer to access the force mains and valves.
Romtec Utilities also installed a Romtec Utilities junction box on this project. Our custom junction box is specifically designed to provide optimal protection for the electrical connections with water tight, elevated enclosures. Romtec Utilities junction boxes also feature separate enclosures for the components, reducing confusion during maintenance and making both troubleshooting and repairs easier.
BCPI Earthworks LLC, a contractor out of Puyallup, Washington, installed this lift station at the site location with the oversight of Romtec Utilities Engineers. Their hard work to install the station components allowed Romtec Utilities to complete a successful start-up of this lift station for the Broadway Business Park. Now the developed industrial land is ready to be sold to the right buyer for installation of the large business buildings and parking lot.
