Port of Vancouver – Port Expansion Sewer System
Project Description
To accommodate new rail lines and a new administration building, the Port of Vancouver needed a new lift station to handle medium flows of sewage from the new facility. This system was engineered economically with a 4’ diameter precast concrete wet well at 8’ depth. The pumps were supplied with 2 hp Ebara pumps in a duplex configuration for redundancy and rotating start cycles. The lift station control panel was also economically configured with a simple UL listed device configured as an alternator relay in a fiberglass NEMA 4x enclosure.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
KPFF was the engineering firm for the expansion of the Port of Vancouver, and they contacted Romtec Utilities for the lift station design. Romtec Utilities developed an affordable lift station for the project and wrote a complete specification for the packaged pumping system. In the end, KPFF and the Port of Vancouver chose to use the Romtec Utilities’ specification in its bid documents, and 2KG Contractors was awarded the project. Working with 2KG Contractors, Romtec Utilities supplied the complete lift station and provided a construction advisor onsite. Romtec Utilities also provided start-up services and training for the maintenance personnel for the Port, as the Port will own, operate, and maintain this lift station.
