Tesoro Corporation – Oil/Water Separator Stormwater Pump Station
Project Description
A remote Tesoro Corporation industrial site needed this stormwater pump station to handle water discharged from an oil/water separator which processes on-site runoff. Submersible centrifugal pumps were used in a duplex configuration in this shallow wet well. The 7.5 hp Ebara explosion-proof pumps were sized to meet low flow, medium head conditions for stormwater. Check valves and plug valves were integrated into the discharge piping in the well for a simple and cost-effective design. The precast concrete wet well and the access hatch are both pedestrian rated.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
The Tesoro Corporation contacted Romtec Utilities to design this practical stormwater pump station because they had worked with Romtec Utilities before and liked the package pump station approach. For this design, Romtec Utilities worked with Tulsa Engineering Alliance, the civil engineer, to make sure the pump station package would seamlessly integrate with the other site work. Tulsa Engineering Alliance was also in charge of designing a controller for the site. Romtec Utilities provided all the pertinent lift station information so that an appropriate control panel could be designed. Tesoro quickly approved the Romtec Utilities package as being a suitable stormwater solution for the industrial site. The entire process went quickly because Tesoro understands and values the package pump station advantages with Romtec Utilities.
