Doheny Village – Simplex Stormwater Pump Station
Project Description
City improvements for the Doheny Village in Dana Point, California required a new stormwater pump station for the residential revitalization. To meet the required flows, the new pump station utilized a 1/3 hp Goulds submersible pump in a simplex configuration. This pump station is capable of pumping 50 GPM, and it pumps into a split force main that discharges into two modular wetland systems for basic stormwater treatment. NOLTA float sensors are used for liquid-level sensing and the control valves were engineered inside the wet well. This design is not typical, but it created a low-cost stormwater configuration capable of utilizing modern modular wetland systems for stormwater treatment.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
There have been several plans for the improvement of the Doheny Village neighborhood over the years. These plans kept getting postponed due to budget limitations in the past. Fuscoe Engineering originally contacted Romtec Utilities with this stormwater pump station project, which also required a separate wastewater lift station. Working with Fuscoe Engineering and Zephyr Partners, Romtec Utilities designed this low-cost pump station. Once the project was out to bid, our designs were chosen for both pumping systems. Romtec Utilities supplied the package pump station, and it was then installed by Murrieta Development, the contractors for the project.
