The Marathon Petroleum Refinery in Robinson, IL needed this new industrial process water pump station to handle its medium flows of highly acidic water combined with standard wastewater. A precast concrete sump included an interior Tnemec coating to withstand the water chemistry from a refinery testing lab. 11 hp Goulds grinder pumps were designed in a duplex configuration and included a factory epoxy coating to withstand the water chemistry. The pump station piping was designed with stainless steel components, and corrosion resistant floats were included as the liquid level sensing devices.
Praxair, Inc|East Chicago, IN|1,800 GPM - 33.5' TDH
A liquid hydrogen plant required this large 20’ deep lift station to handle super-high flows of industrial wastewater. In order to provide redundancy and expanded pumping capabilities, triplex submersible centrifugal pumps were specified in the 8’ diameter sump. A large custom valve vault holds the complete 8” valve configurations with triplex discharge piping and force main headers. Two below grade junction boxes hold electrical disconnects to comply with the classified space. An outdoor UL listed control panel uses float controls for primary and backup liquid level-sensing.
Merck Animal Health|DeSoto, KS|100 GPM - 21' TDH
This industrial pumping system was designed to handle medium flows of process wastewater created from cleaning cycles at the Merck Animal Health facility. The wastewater was specified with highly variable pH conditions, so the pumping system was designed with a double-wall fiberglass sump with leak detection. All of the submersible components in the well were constructed of stainless steel, including the Tsurumi duplex submersible pumps. The pumping system electrical controls comprised a UL listed panel with SCADA integration.
TVA Power Plant|West Paducah, KY|50 GPM - 67.7' TDH
This industrial power plant needed a package lift station to meet the requirements for municipal wastewater. The 23-foot-deep sump holds duplex Goulds submersible sewage pumps specified to meet the 50 gpm maximum flow requirements. A precast concrete valve vault contains the system valves and a force main junction. Both the below-grade wet well and valve vault are pedestrian rated. Liquid level-sensing controls are a pressure transducer and floats for backup. The outdoor control panel includes a receptacle for an owner supplied onsite generator.
Tesoro Corporation|Port Angeles, WA|400 GPM - 30' TDH
A remote Tesoro Corporation industrial site needed this stormwater pump station to handle water discharged from an oil/water separator which processes on-site runoff. Submersible centrifugal pumps were used in a duplex configuration in this shallow wet well. The 7.5 hp Ebara explosion-proof pumps were sized to meet low flow, medium head conditions for stormwater. Check valves and plug valves were integrated into the discharge piping in the well for a simple and cost-effective design. The precast concrete wet well and the access hatch are both pedestrian rated.
