This stormwater pump station was designed to handle variable flows of stormwater runoff. The typical stormwater expectations called for low flow pumping, but this pump station needed to handle high flows as well. Two different sizes of submersible centrifugal pumps were used; a 7.5 hp pump and a 25 hp pump. The pumps required differently sized discharge piping and valves for each pump. A PLC control panel handles all lift station functions including starting and stopping on level, SCADA options, an autodialer for communications, and a soft starter for the large pump.
Exxon Mobil|Chalmette, LA|30,000 GPM - Various TDH
To address the industrial stormwater concerns of coastal Louisiana, this large, precast concrete pump station was designed to meet super-high flows of runoff at this Exxon refinery. Five vertical turbine pumps and three submersible pumps, capable of pumping 60,000 GPM, are spread across three large interconnected rectangular wet wells. This approach was much more affordable than a single poured in place sump, and the connection tubes make the functionality near identical. A robust steel baffle slows incoming stormwater at the inlet line to reduce turbulence and wear on the sump components.
British Petroleum Refinery|Bellevue, WA|350 GPM - 30' TDH
This package lift station handles the medium flows of stormwater and process water drainage at this oil refinery. A stormwater plan is required at most industrial facilities and BP proactively chose a reliable lift station to manage its environmental footprint. Duplex submersible centrifugal pumps and a below grade valve assembly comprise the major underground components of this system. An outdoor control panel utilizes float controls and an ultrasonic transducer for primary and backup liquid level-sensing.
Dow Chemical Company|Plaquemine, LA|8,500 GPM - 32' TDH
This package pump station was designed to respect the confidentiality of this industrial facility. The entire system was delivered with much of the hardware preinstalled in the fiberglass wet well to facilitate simple, “drop-in” installation.
University of Oregon|Eugene, OR|350 GPM - 25' TDH
This package pump station was designed to meet low flows of stormwater expected after the expansion of this university building. The duplex pump configuration with submersible centrifugal pumps provides reliable and lasting pumping capabilities. A simple UL listed control panel with an intrinsically safe (IS) barrier and basic alarm was designed and supplied as a part of the electrical layout for this package pump station. This system was designed with four floats for liquid level-sensing and automatic starting and stopping of pumps on level
