Wastewater Pump Station Project Description
The Naval Station Guantanamo Bay (NSGB) is a United States military Naval Base located in Cuba.
The US Navy has leased the base since 1903, making it the oldest overseas US naval base in the world.
The base is a deep-water US Naval station that provides support across military and interagency operations. Guantanamo Bay is about 400 air miles from Miami, Florida.
Siemens Energy, Inc. Gas & Power EPC SCM Solutions – Americas reached out to Romtec Utilities to provide a Sanitary Lift Station to be delivered to Siemens in Florida for their transport to the jobsite. Romtec Utilities developed a complete fiberglass pump station package that saves on weight and space for shipment to Cuba to be owned and operated by the US Navy.
The lift station’s location of Naval Station Guantanamo Bay is not the only unique aspect of this pump station project. In addition, it incorporates the use of both a fiberglass wet well and valve vault. This configuration will serve the system well (along with the stainless-steel enclosure) being so closely positioned to the beach and saltwater.
Powers Engineers from Mt. Laurel, New Jersey was the engineer but Siemens handled the procurement and consulting on this wastewater lift station.
