Sammamish Plateau Water & Sewer District – Wastewater Lift Station
Project Description
Sammamish Plateau Water & Sewer District (SPWSD) needed a new lift station to handle low flows of wastewater from a new residential development. The lift station uses 7.5 hp Ebara pumps installed in a duplex configuration to meet the flow requirements. The inlet line is equipped with a drop bowl in the well to direct the sewer inflow toward the submersible pump intakes. Liquid levels are measured with a KSPI pressure transducer and Roto-Floats for backup detection. This system design also includes a separate valve vault and meter vault with a Siemens flow meter. Flow rates and the current status of the lift station can be accessed remotely via a wireless cellular modem and antenna for the system telemetry. On-site electrical controls for the system comprise an Allen-Bradley Micrologix controller with a touchscreen HMI installed in a NEMA 3R enclosure beneath a two-post utility shelter for added weather protection.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Romtec Utilities was contacted to provide the design and supply of a wastewater lift station at Providence Ridge, a new housing development in Sammamish, Washington. Prior to this supplying this system, we worked with SPWSD on a similar project to develop a new submersible lift station design standard that changed from its previous wet/dry configuration pump systems. Romtec Utilities worked with Cecil Engineering and SPWSD to meet the design criteria of this project and maintain the new standard lift station design for the district. Once the design of the lift station was approved, the lift station was purchased by The Resmark Companies, the developer, and installed by Aero Construction. When the system was ready for start-up, Romtec Utilities sent a field technician to commission the system and provided on-site training for the operating personnel at SPWSD.
