City of Warrenton, OR – Sanitary Pumping System
Wastewater Pump Station Project Description
Warrenton is a town on the very northwestern edge of Oregon where the Pacific Ocean and the mouth of the Columbia River collide.
Warrenton is close to the historic Fort Stevens State Park which is a 3,763-acre park with hiking, beaches, a fortress, and a shipwreck from 1906. The town is home to a fishing and logging community.
The military battery, Fort Stevens, was built in the area near the mouth of the Columbia River in 1863. The fort has been preserved as part of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Park.
The Warrenton School District wanted to construct a new middle school as part of various phases that will include a new high school and elementary school. The future phases aren’t anticipated to happen right away, but Romtec Utilities attempted to accommodate the future phases to minimize upgrades in the future.
The old age and crowding of the former school led the district to pursue a new school for growth, sustainability, and tsunami safety concerns.
Due to topographic reasons, the new school will include a sanitary pumping system that will discharge to the public system. Romtec Utilities designed the larger system to handle the flows and tough pumping environment from a school.
KPFF Portland was the project driver for Romtec Utilities and the civil engineer for this project. KPFF is one the region’s largest civil and structural engineering firms.
Skanska USA was the general contractor for this major project.
Big River Excavating was the underground contractor who installed the pumping system. Big River is based out of Astoria and has worked with Romtec Utilities in the past on the Astoria Subdivision and the Pacific Rim Apartments projects. Big River provides general contractor and excavation management.
Whether you are building a new school or upgrading it, a new wastewater system may be needed and at Romtec Utilities, we can design and supply your system to fit your specific project needs.
