Port Orchard, Washington is located on the south side of the Sinclair Inlet which is part of the Port Orchard Straight connecting to the Puget Sound near Seattle, Washington.

The Washington State Ferries connect Port Orchard to Seattle and Vashon Island.

Haven Apartments is a new apartment complex with 250 units in Port Orchard. The complex features a coworking space, clubhouse, pool, playground, fitness center, dog park, media room, and large grass areas.

As part of the new apartment complex, the development needed a residential wastewater pump station.

The challenge with this system involved current and future flows as well as a shared force main with another lift station and some grinder systems.

A pressure logger was added to the force main at the connection point to determine the high and low pressures in the force main. This information was then used to develop a triplex system design and pump sizing to overcome the pressures and meet the ultimate flows.

Tarragon was the property developer based out of Seattle, Washington. Founded in 1995, Tarragon is known for being one of the Northwest’s most active real estate developers.

The end owner is the City of Port Orchard who is a repeat customer of Romtec Utilities as we have worked with them on Eldon Trails and the McCormick Lift Station Replacement project.

ESM Consulting Engineers was the civil engineer for this project. ESM offers development services to private and public clients throughout the Northwest since 1982.

Romtec Utilities worked with ESM and Tarragon heavily on the design, sizing, and configuration for this system. This Now and Future Flow System began as a duplex (2 pump) system with the 3^rd pump added as the flow increases. All mechanical for all 3 pumps will be installed from the very beginning of the system’s operation.

JWJ Group was the project driver, they went through the entitlement process for the developer. JWJ is a real estate investment and development company that referred Romtec Utilities to Tarragon for this project. Romtec Utilities has worked with the JWJ Group previously on the Blueberry Ridge & Geiger Regional project.
