The Union Pacific Depot in Cheyenne, Wyoming needed two new stormwater pump stations to replace existing systems. The first station used Ebara 25 hp submersible pumps in a triplex configuration to handle stormwater runoff from a parking lot and additional drains. The second station used Ebara 7.5 hp submersible pumps in a duplex configuration to pump stormwater that drains from the pit of a railway turntable. Both systems include precast concrete valve vaults. Each vault was preassembled with Val-Matic Cam-Centric® plug valves, Val-Matic Swing-Flex® check valves, and Ashcroft pressure gauges. Both stormwater systems discharge into an evaporation pond that was installed as a part of this larger water collection replacement, which also included three additional Romtec Utilities wastewater lift stations.
International-Matex Tank Terminals|Richmond, CA|770 GPM - 35' TDH
An IMTT industrial storage facility needed this stormwater pump station to collect runoff and pump it to treatment onsite. The duplex submersible pumps were engineered to handle the expected medium flows of stormwater. The pumps also needed to handle water that could potentially carry oil or other industrial chemicals stored on the site. An above-grade valve assembly used ball valves and check valves that were vertically integrated for easy access. The pump station electrical controls were located on an existing wall in the water treatment area.
British Petroleum Refinery|Bellevue, WA|350 GPM - 30' TDH
This package lift station handles the medium flows of stormwater and process water drainage at this oil refinery. A stormwater plan is required at most industrial facilities and BP proactively chose a reliable lift station to manage its environmental footprint. Duplex submersible centrifugal pumps and a below grade valve assembly comprise the major underground components of this system. An outdoor control panel utilizes float controls and an ultrasonic transducer for primary and backup liquid level-sensing.
Dow Chemical Company|Plaquemine, LA|8,500 GPM - 32' TDH
This package pump station was designed to respect the confidentiality of this industrial facility. The entire system was delivered with much of the hardware preinstalled in the fiberglass wet well to facilitate simple, “drop-in” installation.
U.S. Army Base|Fort Lewis, WA|100 GPM - 10' TDH
This package lift station in Fort Lewis was configured to meet the medium flow requirements for a federal industrial process system with stormwater to treatment. Submersible centrifugal pumps are protected from turbulence by a drop bowl. A below-grade concrete electrical vault holds the disconnect panel and electrical connections. A drain-pipe allows this vault to double as a stormwater drain for the area around the lift station. An outdoor UL listed control panel includes a basic alarm, floats for liquid level-sensing, and a NEMA rated enclosure.
