Pleasant Valley RV Park – High-Capacity Triplex Lift Station
Project Description
Williston is a city in northwest North Dakota, located along U.S. Route 2 about 20 miles east of the Montana border.
The City of Williston is the county seat of Williams County where it has a population of 29,160, ranking as the sixth most populous city in North Dakota. The population has nearly doubled from 2010 to 2020 thanks to the North Dakota oil and natural gas boom.
The Missouri River runs parallel to the city, close to where it joins the Yellowstone River and the Lake Sakakawea reservoir. Williston is about 60 miles from the Canada border to the north.
Some of the attractions in the area include the Western Star Complex, West Lawn Park, Ardean Aafedt Stadium, Harmon Park, Williston Area Recreation Center, Spring Lake Park, and Eagle Ridge Golf Club.
BIP 40, LLC had a development that was an RV park for employees at natural gas mining facilities in the area. These companies expanded rapidly and hired staff so quickly that a boom town housing market was created. The RV park was on 114 acres of land with 6 acres for a boat, RV, utility storage area, and a 4.5 acre mini storage area. The RV park was proposed to accommodate 708 RV sites and five mobile home sites.
To support their development project and the residential boom town, BIP 40 and its engineering firm (DJ & A, P.C.) needed a large lift station to be designed, manufactured, supplied, and installed as quickly as possible. The lift station would need to handle over 1.2 million gallons of wastewater a day.
Romtec Utilities worked hard to design a packaged lift station that would be a long-term solution for the RV park while also meeting expectations of speed. The lift station design was approved by GEOMAP Company (reviewing agency), manufactured, supplied, and started up by Romtec Utilities within just four months of starting the project.
Submersible Ebara sewage pumps in a triplex configuration were included for the new and future pumping rates resulting from residential growth. The lift station controls are located in a nearby control building. The UL listed control panel utilizes floats for primary and backup level controls, an auto-dialer for communications, and a permanent onsite generator for backup power.
The wastewater pump station features 8′ diameter wet well, 6″ discharge piping, EBARA pumps, and 6″ – 8′ X 10′ vault and pumps up to 844 gallons per minute.
This high-capacity triplex lift station is an example of what Romtec Utilities can design to meet the needs and standards of a specific site location. In this case it was for an RV park, under an accelerated deadline that we delivered on.
To meet the population growth happening with the natural gas mining facility, this RV park was able to provide a space for people to live comfortably in their RV while having the necessary services.
